My master’s thesis dove into the legislation states were passing in 2024 and 2025 to regulate and ban book banning. By using a textual analysis of news coverage for this legislation, I examined what aspects of this legislation was gaining coverage and analyzing what pros and cons were being presented. This analysis allowed me to distill what the media valued and shared as the key points of this legislation and relate it back to the publishing world.

Through four years of study with vigorous curriculum on reporting, writing, media ethics and copyright law, I developed a foundation for journalistic storytelling and effective and engaging communication. My focus was on news reporting and photojournalism to document and share stories through digital media. I don’t know if a photo is worth a thousand words, but I love how much one photo can tell.

During my undergrad, I researched and wrote articles and listicles for The Odyssey Online, an online publication platform. The topics I covered ranged from opinion pieces, like looking back at the effects that competitive dance had on my mental health as a growing teen, to researched pieces on the pink tax and gun violence in America.
